How Litenett writes, checks and corrects content.

How Litenett writes, checks and corrects the guides on this site — and what it does not take money to publish.

Who writes the content

All substantive content is drafted by Litenett consultants or named external contributors with the relevant professional background. Every published page lists an author and a date; where more than one person contributed, they are both named.

How content is checked

Every new guide goes through four stages before it is published:

  1. Draft — by the author, with primary sources cited in the working document.
  2. Editorial pass — by a second consultant, who reads it as a stranger would and marks every unclear sentence.
  3. Fact check — a line-by-line review of every number, name, date and link against the primary source. Numbers with no verifiable source get cut.
  4. Final sign-off — by a senior partner, who is responsible if a claim turns out to be wrong.

Review schedule

Content falls into three categories, each on a different review cadence:

  • Evergreen principles (e.g. how compounding works) — reviewed every 24 months.
  • Rules-of-thumb and figures (e.g. emergency-fund sizing, tax thresholds) — reviewed every 12 months, and whenever a rule changes.
  • Scam patterns and firm checks — reviewed every 3 months, and updated the day a new pattern becomes common.

Correction policy

If we publish something wrong, we correct it as soon as we’re convinced of the mistake and we leave a note at the bottom of the page explaining what changed and when. We do not quietly rewrite history.

Spotted something that reads wrong to you? Email [email protected] with the URL, the passage and what you think the problem is. If you’re right, we’ll fix it and credit you at the bottom of the page unless you’d rather we didn’t.

Independence — what we will never do

  • Accept payment, discount or gifts from a firm in exchange for coverage.
  • Place affiliate links, tracking pixels or sponsored content anywhere on the site.
  • Remove or soften criticism of a firm because they asked.
  • Let a client dictate what we write about them in a published piece.

Disclosures

Where a staff member has a personal investment in anything we cover, that is disclosed at the top of the piece. Where we have had past consulting engagements involving a firm, that is also disclosed.

Use of AI

We sometimes use large language models to help with drafting, editing or translation. A human author reviews and signs off every published word; nothing is pushed live automatically. If a specific article ever contains unreviewed AI text, it will say so at the top.
