Independent due diligence before a cent leaves your account.

Been pitched an investment, a broker, a platform or a too-friendly stranger? Send it over. We’ll tell you — with sources — whether it’s licensed, legitimate, or a trap.

Magnifier over an envelope

When to ask for a check

  • An “amazing opportunity” has landed via email, LinkedIn, Telegram, WhatsApp or a dating app.
  • A broker you’ve never heard of is asking for a deposit — especially if they’re pressing a deadline.
  • A friend of a friend swears by a platform that promises monthly returns.
  • A cold caller offered to “recover” money you lost to an earlier scam (this one in particular — it’s almost always a secondary fraud).
  • Any time your gut says “wait a minute”. A free second opinion is always better than a bad first decision.

What a Litenett check covers

  1. Licence status — we check the national regulator’s register in the relevant jurisdiction (the Netherlands AFM, Germany BaFin, the UK FCA, Switzerland FINMA, and so on).
  2. Company existence — real registration, real directors, real address, real age. Shell companies and freshly-minted “advisers” show up here.
  3. Watchlists and warnings — IOSCO, each major regulator’s public warning list, press reports.
  4. Payment route — where you’d be sending money, in whose name, through which bank or crypto rail. Mismatch between the firm’s name and the beneficiary is a strong red flag.
  5. The offer itself — the maths behind the promised return, what would have to be true for it to be real, and whether anyone sane would offer it to a stranger.
  6. The pressure script — how the firm pushed you to decide, which of the common fraud patterns it matches.

What you receive

  • A one-page verdict — green, amber or red — with a short explanation.
  • A longer appendix with the sources behind every claim, so you can verify any of it yourself.
  • Specific next steps if the verdict is amber or red (how to withdraw, who to report to, what evidence to keep).

Turnaround time

Most checks turn around inside 48 hours. If a deadline is pushing you, put it in the subject line of your email — we’ll prioritise.

What it costs

A single fixed fee per firm or offer, quoted up front. Second firms you’re weighing against each other are discounted when checked together.

If you’ve already paid and now think you were scammed

Do not pay anyone to “recover” the money — that’s a secondary scam, and we don’t do recovery work either. Tell your bank immediately (they may be able to reverse a recent transfer), report to your national cybercrime service, and keep every email and screenshot. We can advise on the sequence for a fixed fee.
